Deputy Chief Constable Paulette Freill joined the Abbotsford Police Department at the beginning of November 2017, after a successful 32-year career with the RCMP. From December 2016 she was Chief Superintendent and Officer in Charge of the Operations Strategy Branch in Surrey British Columbia. She was also a member of the Senior Management Team of the BC RCMP. The OPS Strategy Branch includes a number of specialized support units to the Senior Management Team including: Government Liaison and Client Services Unit, Research and Business Analytics Unit, Communication Services, Strategic Planning Unit, Diversity and Inclusion Unit, Review Services, Operations Development Unit, Continuous Improvement Unit, and Business Intelligence Unit.
Deputy Freill is originally from Newfoundland and has served in British Columbia and Manitoba. She was the Commander-West District, in the RCMP’s “D” Division (Manitoba). Deputy Freill has worked in police detachments throughout the province of BC and was the first female Officer posted at both the Surrey Detachment as a Duty Officer and as the Operational Support Officer at the Coquitlam Detachment.
During her career, Deputy Freill has volunteered as a Staff Relations Sub Representative and was a member of the “E” Division Interview Team. Deputy Freill has taught Statement Analysis all over the world and is recognized globally as an expert in this field. Deputy Freill has an Advanced Program in Management, Leadership, and Strategy diploma from the University of Manitoba, Asper School of Business Executive Program.
She is the recipient of the RCMP Long Service Medal, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and as of January 2018, the Member of the Order of Merit of Police Forces.
