Amber has been a proud member of the Vancouver Police Department since 2004.  She has worked in operations, Neighbourhood Policing, surveillance, undercover with the BCMUP as well as in the investigation section.  Amber is currently assigned as a Sergeant at the Vancouver Jail.  Prior to policing, she spent five years as a Reserve Corporal with the Canadian Forces Military Police. Other than her family, Amber’s proudest accomplishment has been as an integral member in the creation of BCWLE.  She has served as Vice President and Professional Development Director organizing the speaker series during COVID and two successful in person sold out conferences.  Amber is excited about the support that BCWLE has received and is looking forward to more opportunities to build and strengthen women in law enforcement. Janine started her career in B.C. Corrections and later joined the Vancouver Police Department in 2006 working at the Vancouver Jail. In working with police officers from the department, it was clear a career in law enforcement was what she wanted and she was later hired as a Constable. Janine has worked the majority of her career with VPD in and around the Downtown East Side and has a passion to serve this community. In receiving such strong support from other female police officers, she would like to provide guidance and encouragement to others.

Before joining the Vancouver Police Department, Juliette worked in the technology industry for 7 years. She volunteered for various organizations with the same mission as BCWLE, albeit for women in tech instead of law enforcement. As the IT Director for BCWLE from 2021-2023, Juliette continued that line of volunteer work within her policing career. As Vice President from 2023-2025, Juliette worked with the President to determine BCWLE’s priorities, helped lead monthly board meetings, and set up mentorship for student scholarship winners, among other things. As the new Membership Director, Juliette aims to help BCWLE better understand and grow its membership.

Shawna has been an RCMP Member for over 31 years and completed all of her service in British Columbia. She has been stationed on Vancouver Island, Okanagan and LMD and now is the Officer in Charge of Vernon North Okanagan Detachments (Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby and Lumby Detachments). Through the course of her career, Shawna focused on Drug Enforcement and Undercover Operations, both in the Undercover and Cover roles- a role not common with females. She is a recognized drug expert in both Provincial and Supreme Court on drug files. She was the first female Officer level Detachment Commander outside of the Lower Mainland. Shawna’s goal is to advance female leadership within the RCMP and support females trying to increase their roles and responsibilities within policing, especially in areas which are normally held by males. Constable Tara Korber has been a member of the Delta Police Department since 2019 and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. During her time with the DPD, Tara has had experience working in the COVID Operational Support Unit, Drug Investigative Support Team, Major Crimes Unit, Traffic Services, and is a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Operator. Tara was recently nominated to be a mentor within her organization, to which she enjoys greatly.

Tara’s biggest role model is her aunt, Sheila Rothwell, who became a police officer in the onerous, male dominated, pre- Charter 1970’s era. Constable Tara Korber brings a fresh set of eyes, youth, and excitement to the board, while carrying deep honour and gratitude for the pioneer police women who blazed the path before her. With these values at the forefront of Tara’s mind, Tara’s goal is to progress women in law enforcement through unity, empowerment, and connection. Michele Sealey comes from a family with an affinity for public service and law enforcement, so it’s not surprising that she followed in the footsteps of both her grandfathers. In her 37-year career, she is the first – and only – woman in law enforcement in her family, and she has worked with all 3 police agencies that her grandfathers did!

In taking on this position, Michele brings experience and training in social media, copywriting, marketing, and PR, now working mainly as a volunteer with non-profits and not-for-profits, to raise their profiles with a strong social and community presence. She values forging relationships across the spectrum of organisations, government, and institutions, and at local, regional, provincial, and federal levels.

Michele currently acts as the Communications Lead for the BC Law Enforcement Memorial, sitting on the Steering Committee for BCLEM;  and is a Director with the Police & Peace Officers Memorial Ribbon Society, working on media and promotions, as well as sitting on the Organising Committee for the Annual PPOMRS Golf Tournament.

Passionate about supporting women in law enforcement, Michele sees BCWLE as a strong entity to connect and support all of us involved in law enforcement in BC.

Michele first became aware of BCWLE through social media posts, so it is rather fitting that she is the BCWLE Media Relations Director. Lana Chui has over two decades of experience working in the field of law enforcement. Lana joined the RCMP in 2006 and has 17 years of service working in various detachments and units across the Lower Mainland. She has worked in frontline policing, Sex Crimes, Property Crime, Surveillance, Child Exploitation and currently in the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team at RCMP headquarters. Prior to policing, Lana worked as a Customs Officer and as a Correctional Programs Officer. Her biggest achievement was completing her Masters Degree in Criminology last year after a sixteen year hiatus. Lana is passionate about the  advancement of women in leadership roles and is excited to be a part of the BCWLE Board supporting and connecting with women in law enforcement. Shelby has been a member with Delta PD for 2 years.  Prior to going into policing she attended Simon Fraser University, completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology, along with a certificate in Police Studies.  Upon graduating, she worked full time with the RCMP as a civilian analyst in the National Sex Offender Registry.  Shelby enjoys being a part of the community and has volunteered for the past 6 years with Challenger Baseball, a program for children with physical and cognitive disabilities.  When not at work she enjoys reading, running and all sports and outdoor activities.  Shelby is delighted to be joining the BCWLE and looks forward to the opportunity to collaborate with all the remarkable women within the law enforcement community. Amanda is so thrilled and excited to serve as the Executive Liaison Director. To this position Amanda brings a varied policing background of 18 years (and counting) as an RCMP officer. She is currently posted to Surrey RCMP detachment and has spent her entire career in the lower mainland. She has worked in Frontline Policing, Municipal Traffic Services, Community Policing, Mental Health Liaison, and General Investigation Section. In 2018 Amanda was promoted to Corporal in Frontline Policing in Surrey. Most recently she has been a supervisor within Surrey RCMP’s Intimate Partner Violence unit. Amanda has been a member of the Lower Mainland Tac Troop, deployed with RCMP’s Community Industry Response Group (CIRG) and was a quarry with the Lower Mainland Police Dog Services. Her passions in policing are training new members and seeing them set up for a successful and healthy career. After attending my first BCWLE meeting and hearing DCC Davey speak from Delta Police, Amanda knew BCWLE was an amazing and much needed organization. She wishes something like it had been around when she first started in policing in 2005! Amanda looks forward to working with the board members and Advisory Committee to expand the awareness and membership.

Shannon has been with the VPD since 2003 working in Patrol and Traffic. She is one of the first ten women to be a Motor Officer in the history of VPD. She spent the last three years working in the Downtown Eastside, before joining the Hit and Run Team.  As one of the Founding members, Shannon played a key role in the creation and growth of BCWLE as the Interim President.  Shannon has a background in accounting and is happy to use those strengths to keep building on the success of this association from the Treasurer’s role. Since its inception, she has proudly seen the positive effect of the association that filled the gap for women in policing in this province. For Shannon, the importance of BCWLE can be summarized by one of her favourite sayings from Ryunosuke Satoro:  Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean. Natasha works with the RCMP in the Victim Services Unit and has been working in law enforcement in a civilian capacity over the past 4 years. She completed her Bachelor’s in Law Enforcement Studies at the Justice Institute of BC and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Safety at Wilfrid Laurier University. As an Iranian-Canadian woman and the first person in her family to pursue law enforcement, Natasha is passionate about breaking barriers and challenging the status quo. A significant part of her graduate studies has focused on the value of post-secondary education in the field of policing. Natasha values supporting young women to pursue education as part of their path to a career in law enforcement through mentorship. During her free time, you can find her running, hiking, or paddleboarding with her rescue dog Bailey. Natasha is excited about the role BCWLE has in supporting the academic success of women considering law enforcement as a career.
