Vancouver, Canada – BCWLE today announced it has received a grant from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions.
Through this grant, BCWLE will be able to attend community events and continue to develop its youth presentation series that will provide information, encouragement, and leadership for youth, especially young women wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement. The program will begin in 2024 and will offer six $2100 scholarships. The scholarships will be open to all Canadian female youth aged 17-25 years who are enrolled or have an accepted application to a post-secondary institution. Historically, women have been underrepresented in the policing profession. There has been an increasing external and internal emphasis on diversifying law enforcement, so that agencies more accurately represent the community they serve.

The Motorola Solutions Foundation, which has donated $100 million over the past 10 years, focuses its giving on three key areas: first responder programming, technology and engineering education, and programs that blend the two.
